Hancotte's paintings leads its
audience to an abstract yet controlled vision, full of subtle sensitivity, which
gives his work an air of mystery. Faceless women, subtle workshop views and
minimalist landscapes all form part of a story full of emotions.
The impact of textures and the
powerful combination of colours dominate: the picture is the creative element
which strikes the senses, stimulates and convinces. The perspective, values and
lines melt together to create an architecture which enhances the subject. And so
faces are fully integrated in the picture, clothes form part of the background,
giving each piece an air of abstraction without losing the meaning and focus of
the main subject.
Women, recurring theme in Hancotte's
work, are walking through each painting like beings of shadow and light, between
dream and reality, leaving behind them a cloudy emotion. Their sensual movements
give the viewer a feeling of seduction, revealing our own ability to grab these
signs in real life.
Hancotte's work has a visual
eloquence which is fresh and inspiring, while displaying some subconscious links
within his paintings. And so you feel the influences of cubism and fauvism,
linking his work to the history of art, but with an originality that is very
modern.
